I just saw my first local newspaper (Manchester, NH)advertisement for an S2000. The ad stated they had 3 available 2001 models for $32,240. No information on colors. Maybe the market is getting saturated with roadsters, maybe it's the economy.

Probably a bit of both. It's still the same car, it's just the economy that's changed.

Come on, you know all those people that wants a S2000 are waiting for the 2002 to come out. So, basically sales will drop cause no wants to buy a 2001 S2000 when the could have a 2002 S2000. I know I would wait if I still could to get the 2002 S2000.

Jeffrey...wants a blue one now.

The reason there are more S2000s sitting on dealers' lots this year is that there are more S2000s being imported. In fact, my dealer, which was limited to ordering only 8 2001 S2000s, just received his 11th one of the 8 he ordered

I'm with Spa2k - I'm going to try and get mine today or later this week - 2002 model might add a few nice things (defroster? it's a summer car!) but I'd rather have 3-5 months of gorgeous weather to drive top-down then get the latest and greatest. Dealers will probably go back to asking $3000 over MSRP for the '02s anyway, which I can't really afford.

I don't like blue on the S2K that much anyway

IMO Honda are doing us a favour by not making major, or even moderate, changes in styling or performance to this car. The 2002 buyer basically gets the same machine we currently enjoy. Any extras are so minimal that you could't justify waiting a year for them. Rear window defroster? Big deal.. Clock? Well...handy .. but who really gives a toss I think it would take some significant engine changes or desire for another colour to make me concerned about 'upgrading'.

I'm not waiting. Ordered mine 4/27 knowing it wouldn't get here till July. I think it's a fairly safe assumption there will be an 02. Colors, windows, headlight backing colors are all of course speculative at this point. I wouldn't get blue or silver anyway and as you can see I live in Florida so the glass would only serve of any benefit about 2 months or so of the year. The biggest factor being that 02's probably won't start being delivered till November so that's too many months that I could have the car I've been salivating over for close to two years but don't because I'm waiting for a glass rear window & different colored headlight backing. NO WAY!! I am counting the days, 66 to be exact till I sign & drive.

I think it has to do with the economy. Personally, I would not buy the S2K at the moment either since we seem to be heading to recession but good thing I bought it couple years ago when everything was very rosy.

It was all a matter of time anyways.
