S2000 specific stuff at SEMA 2002
After wading through aisle after aisle of 28" rims, truck bedliners, 21" dvd screens, Hummer H2 parts, Mini Cooper Parts, and 350Z parts, I was able to find a few things that us as S2000 owners should be interested in...
1) AEM V2 Cold Air Induction System - "AEM Version2 Cold Air systems feature a revolutionary breakthrough in inlet system design that delivers more horsepower and torque throughout the entire RPM range. The AEM V2 Cold Air utilizes a dual chamber (using two different diameters and lengths of piping), to create multiple frequency sound waves that help charge the cylinders with air across the entire rpm range". Doesn't make too much sense to me, but that's what the sign says.
I'm not sure if or when an S2000 application will be available. AEM is also coming out with a "Brute Force" intake, but it's geared towards large displacement cars and trucks.
2) Yokohama Parada Spec-2 and AVS ES-100 - These are both out already, but are still fairly new.
"Yokohama's Parada Spec-2 gives street tuners the grip they want and the control they need. Parada Spec-2 applies the latest in silca compounding technology for an unmatched level of treadwear, acceleration, dry and wet grip and braking ability. "
"The AVS ES100 provides confident wet and dry grip through a high technology silica cap compound that allows the tread rubber to be pliable at low temperatures, enhancing grip. Combined with a heat resistant base compound, this tire offers a high level of grip, wear and durability."
3) Royal Purple Synchromax - I was talking to the Royal Purple guy about my personal MTF dilemmas. I told him I was using Redline MTL, but it was terrible when cold. I mentioned that GM Synchromesh worked well, but broke down too easily, especially for our low capacity transmissions. That's when he pointed me to the Royal Purple Synchromax. He said it was formulated for the same types of engines that require GM Synchromesh, but it was much more resistive to breakdown. I think I'm gonna try this stuff as soon as I can find it!

6) Injen Bypass Valve - This bypass valve serves the same purpose as the AEM bypass valve, which is to stop water from getting sucked up into the engine. The Injen version will be shipped with all new Injen CAIs starting some time next year. For those of us that already have an Injen CAI without this bypass valve, it will be availble for purchase for around $35 to $50. From what I understand, a retrofit will involve drilling a hole in the pipe using some sort of template, then slipping the bypass valve over the pipe, at the location of the hole... You do NOT need to saw the pipe into two separate pieces!
7) R-1 Racing Rims - Don't know about the quality of the product from this company, but these rims look just like the Racing Sparco NT-R's to me, which look EXTREMELY light weight. The problem was that the Racing Sparco NT-R's didn't come in the right offsets for us. Maybe R-1 Racing will come out with something for us!
8) Clutch Masters - These guys have 4 different levels of clutch for our cars. MSRP is from $540 to $905, depending on what level of clutch you are looking for. They also make flywheels, but I didn't hear anything about an S2000 application.

9) Apex-i gauges - I'm not looking for any gauges myself, but I thought some of you might be interested.
10) Thin profile Strut Tower Bar - These are from a company called "Alutec", but this particular company doesn't make an S2000 application. I think they would work pretty well for us with aftermarket induction systems that rubs with a spoon or other larger profile STB.
11) Performance Friction floating hub 2-piece rotors - They are working on a product for the S2000, which should be availabe my mid 2003. The floating hub allows the diameter of the outer rotor piece to change when it heats. This greatly reduces the stess in the rotors during heavy usage. The slot pattern they use is also patented. I would assume they will have brake pads available for the S2000 as well.

And if you haven't seen it already, check out the Audio Options S2000, also from the show! https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=90483
