S2000 still drawing crowds
Just returned from a full day at the Detroit Auto Show. I can report that the S2000, the NOW three year old S2000, is still drawing crowds. Every time I went by the Honda area it was the big draw and had a dozen or so people looking, sitting, and crawling around it. It still looks great and lots of other folks must have agreed. I was very proud to know I had one back home tucked away waiting for springtime.
For a tin top I was impressed with the 350Z, it looked much better to me than when I first saw it at last year's show... it looked leaner. The new Pontiac concept car was great looking too -- but a lot can change when and if production becomes a reality. I finally saw the Evo VII that I've heard so much about... no one was even noticing it (it's a sleeper). Even got to hug a beautiful blond model, but that's another story.
Anyway, the S2000 looked timeless and great. It didn't have to take a back seat to anything there.

dlq04 - great review on our little S2000!
Would you say the 350Z was different from the concept or just your reaction to it was different? When I saw the concept in Toronto my impression was tall, wide, fat, stogy.

Of course the S2000 still draws crowds ... That's why we're all together in this. In some parts of the world, it's still considered a rare sight ... Like for example, Singapore because it's simply just too overpriced.

But I fell in love with the S2000 and no regrets

only time i see "more" of them is the weekend nights at south beach or something!
when i say more... i mean 3 or four.
i really only see 3 a week.
including the one in my school (other than mine) and the one in my neighborhood... driven by a woman.
other than that it's a rare site...
my g/f and i get so excited when we spot one as if i just spoted an F50 or something.
it's easy to spot them at night though... w/those lights... they are similar to the audies, but at the same time, they clearly AREN'T!
before i got my S2000, my g/f and i used to drive down to south beach just to spot one or too...
btw, i actually used to hate them at first... back in 99'... either i was jealous or i got mad that people were sweatin' a car i USED to think was a slow POS...
wooooops,
i love it now though...

When I saw the S2000, I sorta cringed. First, it was yellow, should have been silver or white
Second, I saw at least 4 people get into it and manage to kick the body below the door frame or drag their feet across the S2000 plate on the frame. It's a freaking convertible! It's not that hard to get into! Lift your feet up! The S2000 was not alone in this treatment, almost every car that people were allowed to get in was treated the same. Sadly, I think the Mini S was getting better treatment. And yes, I realize that they're show cars, but what is so hard about showing the slightest bit of respect for the cars? If people didn't abuse the heck out of them, maybe we'd get to play in some of the nicer cars instead of just looking. Grr.
Still a great show
