Default s2000 and surfing

it's finally summer here in Aus and after went to couple classes on how to surf i fall in love with surfing... hence i'm getting my board soon

now the only way i know how to carry a surfboard (especially those long one) with our S is to drop top and fit it in passenger side and perhaps tie it down with ropes or something (onto seat???)

has anyone try to carry one with their S???? any tips/tricks so i don't do anything silly?

i'm just worried on highway driving the board becomes a hazard...

cheers guys!!

Not sure if they have them in AUS, but in the states, Red Bull uses Austin Minies as their promotional cars and attaches a big Red bull can on the back of them.. Kinda looks like a mini Soviet Missle launcher on wheels.. That could be an option for you..

Else, put a tow hitch on the car and fab up a bracket to hold the board.. That's what I would do..

yea fitting something that big into the S is a bit difficult. i can barely fit my skimboard in the trunk...and if i take my boggie board it has to be in the passenger seat and it touches the dash just a bit. Ive seen a surfboard in a S, but it was strapped onto the passenger seat. good luck, you will find a way to secure that board.

I saw a miata at Newport beach with a surfboard in the passenger's seat so I'm sure it can be done.

I've seen a surf rack that mounts to a hitch receiver and suctions to the windshield. Not sure how solid that would be though.

My board is small, so I have no reason to strap it down. It just sits shotgun with the fins in the passenger's foot rest area

It's really easy if you are by yourself...but come on I've been surfing for almost 3 years now surfing by yourself is not only dangerous, but not half as fun. Still havn't figured out how to get 2 decent sized funshapes (7'2" & 7'9") into the s. Thought about buying a cusco 6 point roll bar and strapping them to it with tie-down straps. But don't feel like spending 800 on a system that wont work.
