dlq04: Read your posting - seems as thorough as can be. Recently I had to repair a rear flat, and in a pinch I took it to a local Mavis Discount Tire. They plugged the screw hole and rebalanced the tire. Lately I noticed I've got a a slow leak and thought it odd, since the other 3 tires were fine. Is this just coincidence or perhaps my rim and/or tire was damaged because they didn't use the right equipment? I'm replacing all 4 tires in 2 weeks when the thaw comes, so I'll make sure its done properly. Thanks for any input.

Skip: I usually do patches not plugs, but was in a pinch and knew w/ over 18k I would be replacing the tires soon. When asked about the plugging, the tech said that the 'new' preferred method was to plug so that water penetration would not damage the steel belts. This seems moot w/ us since most of us go through tires in months. I'm concern about rim damage as aluded to by dlq - there's no scratches on the rim that I can see from the outside, and w/o putting it on a lift I can't easily check. Suggestions anyone? I was going to install my new tires in a couple of weeks w/ a Tirerack listed installer - Magnum Motors in Yonkers...(I will call to check their equipment). Anyone have any other suggestions near the city limit / lower westchester area?
