Default S2000 towing ?

My s2000 has a tow hitch and I'm just curious if it will be able to pull a 250 pound dirt bike on a specialized dirt bike hauler. It will not be on a trailer, it's very similar to a bicycle hauler that attaches directly to the hitch but this hauls a dirt bike.

I think that would be too much weight cantilevered off the back of the car. If you were to go with a light weight trailer, I think you could do it. I used to pull a tire trailer behind mine for autocross. Fully loaded it was close to 500 lbs, but only 50 lbs. of tongue weight.

Get a cheap trailer and tow it anywhere. Do not use a rack style carrier.

I would not put a child's bicycle on a cantilevered mount on this car. I'm curious just where this trailer hitch attaches to the car's non-existent frame. A couple hundred pounds drawbar pull is probably fine.

A company by the name of Chase Race makes a hitch for the S2K. I think it is designed for those who what to tow a small trailer for hauling track tires, etc. for track duty. A dirt bike might be a bit heavy for the S to haul. But if you search the threads, someone on hear has a small camping trailer that he tows with his S.

There's no way an S2000 hitch will lift and balance 250+ pounds of tongue weight without either falling apart or ripping apart whatever it is attached to. A motorcycle on a small lightweight trailer would probably be ok.

I have put a bike rack on my trailer hitch loaded with 75 lbs of bike, plus the hitch at 45 lbs. Drove 1 hour at 60 MPH with no issue or strange hitch/receiver wear. I have a Thule rack and a chase race hitch. I only did it once with the S and don't plan to make a habit of it.

I tow a quality tire trailer without issues either.

I would not use the same hitch to cantilever 250 lbs on said trailer hitch.

your mileage may vary.

75 lbs of bike! That is one heavy iron bike. LLOL Carbon Fiber!!! Mine is maybe 18 lbs but I'm 230 so the 18 lbs is like a deck chair off the Titanic.

The more I look at it, I'm inclined to agree. I have a hitch-mount bike rack and have not yet used it on the Honda and probably won't; our bikes are in the +/- 22LB range but the rack is HEAVY, I'll probably discard it.

Just bought my 2nd trailer to go behind the S2000, a Malone Microsport to tow our kayak; partway through assembling it now. Trailer is supposedly 197LB, boat is 76LB, plus accessories. Looking over available options is a bike carrier to fit the trailer, I think I'm going that direction.

In 1.5 years since the S2000 took over towing duties for us, no problems but primarily short hauls and flattish terrain (two cubic yards of mulch is a bit heavy but the vendor is 2.5 miles or so from out house with no serious grades, for instance). Dirt bike on small trailer does not sound like a problem to me. YMMV.
