Being a big ass person, you can really tell those small differences in the interior space of cars.

The s2ks I sat in have been tight, but not nearly as tight as the NB.

My friends '99 miata... well, I can't even drive it without my foot resting on the clutch and the wheel resting on my lap.

I'm crammed from the sides more in the NB also.

Me neither.....

The NB's Miata interior is better laid out for everyday use. I never had a problem with the controls or the ergonomics of the Miata. However, the S is not bad either, it just has a huge tunnel running though the center of the interior. The controls in the S are much more focused for driving.

Since I have both, you can tell the controls on the S are for a 30K car, versus the miata. The Miata is so much more spacious. Not only does it not have the tunnel, it also doesn't have the intrusions in the footwell like the S.

That said, the sound and the gearbox of the S are orgasmic to me. True sports car. The MSM is too muted for me.

Please blame my buddy/neighbor Joel (mx5msm) on this board. He talked me into it. I think that is the 2nd day in my life I went top down, in all my roadster owning time.

No worries, top is up, and permanent HT will be on it, as soon as HT is delivered.

Sarcasm or are you being serious? Who doesn't like dropping the top on the S2000?!? Why buy a roadster?

I am serious. I currently have 3 roadsters (S52 M roadster, S2000, Mazdaspeed Miata). I don't like convertibles, but I like 2 seater RWD cars. Thus I don't drop the top, and have the permanent HT on them year round, despite living in 72 degree year round climate. Different strokes for different folks.

I ride motorcycles, and that experience is gratifying enough, I don't need top down as well.

If the S2000 or Miata (came in Japan as a coupe), came as coupes only, I would have bought that.

Recently, I sold my S52 M roadster, and bought the proper S54 M coupe.

This was a good comparison.

I have owned both cars, just not at the same time. I agree with virtually all your thoughts and conclusions between the two automobiles. In addition, I also enjoy two-door, front engine, rear drive roadsters but, I don't drop the top very often and prefer a hard top. Moreover, in 2002 I had a M coupe on order, but had to cancel the order due to the purchase of my first home, sigh.

Corrigans Steak house, I have not eaten there is years, how is it?

I know you have some awesome motorcycles too, ever set-up a canyon cruise that leaves from your office? I need to put some more miles on my Buell.

Mike, I bought the office up from Corrigans, and I have never been there, can you believe it!!?

You sound like my twin, with the same cars, and using HT all the time

Currently I have 2 GSX-Rs, 1 Raven R1, 748S Ducati, and brand new Fly Yellow 1098 that I just picked up.

I haven't had time to put much miles, so I am going to use some of the bikes to commute to my Santa Monica office.

I have been traveling so much in the last 10 months, that I have barely put any miles on anything.

Would love to set up a ride sometime with you

RE: comfort

I owned a 10th anniversary miata for a little over a year. It was very fun to drive, but I just did not fit into it, legroom wise (and I'm only 6' tall).

My upper legs would hit the steering wheel if I tried to move them toward the center , and I could only wear narrow shoes or my left foot would hit the clutch lifting off of the dead pedal.

The S2000 has much more legroom for me (more headroom too, but i didn't have a problem with that in the miata). I don't mind the center tunnel. I haven't spent much time in the passenger seat of the S, but did notice the narrowing of the footwell. I'll gladly trade that compromise for much greater comfort on the driver side.

I also find the S2000 seatbacks far more supportive and comfortable. For one thing, the headrests actually cover my head. The Miata had no shoulder support. I do find the bottom cushion of the S2000 seat a bit on the narrow side.
