Couldn't believe my luck this morning, and the ability of the S2000, from about 50 (in second) to close to 130, the S2000 just kept pulling away from the 928GTS, after intial tailgating of the Porsche, traffic cleared in front of me, again I couldn't believe it when I came into work and checked on the 928 figures, 0-60 in 5.6, 30-70 in 4.9 for a regular 928 GT compared to S2000 5.6 / 5.2 seconds, he was keeping up to about 70 then I gained all the way to braking from 130, I moved over for him as well but he couldn't do anything , when he turned off later when again in traffic, I gave him a little wave, but he was looking away for some reason, thats when I clocked the GTS badge.

This after seeing off yesterday a Nissan 200 SX Turbo, 8 years old and putting out plenty of smoke when he stepped on it, at least he moved over at 100, sailed passed at~115 ish, strangely enough in the opposite direction on the same road as the Porka

Boy, you get some fun on the way to work. I managed to get right behind a TT today but Traffic wouldn't allow us any fun, it was only a 180 (single exhaust) anyway so would probably been easy meat.

At 115/130 I hope you've got a good radar detector !!

Which model 200SX? Is it the new one? Does it have 141kW and 6-speed gearbox like we have here? I always wanted to compare with one of these.

David at the Calder drags I was getting exactly the same times as a brand new (5000km) SX.

Wow, that's a serious car the GTS..

I have a friend with one but I've not had the chance/guts to run
against him yet. I'll have a go now you've done that!

The reason he was not looking at you could have been because he's looking for a petrol
station after leathering his car for more than 10 seconds. They drink the
juice they do, well for a car in the UK

David, I thought the clue 8 years old might have helped you identify the model year

197 Bhp / 159lb/ft model, 1240Kg but they are easily chipped to 250 Bhp, although this one mustn't have been!

New Silvia not out in the UK as an official car, now that would have been a bit harder.

Lately the fun has been on the way home from work, this was a refreshing start to the working day.

Not a stretch of road that has the rozzas on, but after contemplating one I've had to hold fire, they are illegal soon aren't they?

Hi 2kturkey,

Hmmm, I thought it could be close as I saw a recent arcicle where they clocked one at 6.3x for 0-100kph and it was very only a fraction slower in all increments (including rolling starts) than a BoxsterS that that had there that day. Incredible how a car with exaclty the same weight as S2000, same first 5 gears but 'only' 146kW (not 141) can hang with the S2000 in the straighline. Same goes for the WRX up to about 130kph - same weight and 'only' 155kW here. Says a lot for 'fat' power curves.

I wonder where the S2000 makes up the ground as it has about 1 - 2 sec per lap advantge on the track over these cars.

btw, what times did you run at Calder that day? ... I remember that it was a 'slow' day but still.

UK Paul, I saw the '8 year old' comment but I wasn't sure if you were not refering to a kid :-) Just making sure.

What's that particular 928 have, 300 HP? At about 3500 pounds there should be no contest. My '82 928 was only 220 HP, very heavy and slower than the Stook, even if it had more torque.
