S2000 vs Boxster
Hello - I'm new to this forum today. I don't yet have an S2000, but am about to purchase either an S2000 or a Boxster. Any reasons why the S2000 should win out (besides being slightly cheaper)? It is a gorgeous car, but maybe seems slightly more cramped in the cabin, and is slower than the Boxster S. Any feedback would be much appreciated! Thanks.
Boxster is slow. S2K is faster. S2k is cheaper. S2K seems more fun to drive from what everyone else is saying. There is a member here that had the Boxster and he traded it in for a s2k. He said the only regret he had was that he didnt do this sooner.
the Boxter isn't that slow. but I hate to say it, a Boxster S is more of an equal with the S2000 than the Boxster is. both are great cars and very comparable in performance stats (the Boxster S only). I think if you test drove each one of those cars you'd know which is right for you.
This comparison comes around every now and then. Here are some links to old threads worth reviewing:

For me, it came down to the Boxster or S2000 as well. They are both excellent handling, fun roadsters. The edge on acceleration goes to the S2000. The Boxster has more body roll in turns but is easier to drive at the limit. The Boxster has more room in the passenger compartment and has more trunk space. The S2000 is a more elemental roadster.
It look a couple of test drives, but after that my choice was clear for the S2000. I have friends that went with the Boxster and they are happy too. Whichever one you select, you'll love it!

Thanks for the responses! And especially those links - very helpful. My understanding is that the Boxster S is quicker than the S2000. 5.9 0-60 compared to 6.2 ... Not much in it I guess. Thanks again
6.2 hey? LOL....go do another search....the fastest ive seen a stock S go is a 5.2....your about a second off.....I would say the average is 5.5-5.6
Go buy the boxter and race an S.....we'll see who wins...LOL
Ive raced both the boxter andddd the boxter S....maybe they were poor drivers but I pulled on both of them.

I was faced with the same dilemna except that I was deciding b/w a '00 Boxster and a '02 S. I went with the S, b/c it seemed (IMHO) to have better acceleration and handling characteristics. Also, I wanted the dependability of a Honda. I'm not saying that Porsches are in any way unreliable, but should something go wrong, I would rather have to replace a part with a Honda emblem than one with Porsche's.
Like someone said earlier, forget the Boxster unless you're looking for the Porsche emblem. The Boxster S is another story, but if I were going to spend that much money, it wouldn't be on a Boxster of any kind...Buy yourself a used low mileage Carrera.
Sorry Boxster S still wouldn't take an s2k, unless you know of one doing 0-60 faster than 5.2 and quarter in less than 13.8/100.5 (which I sure as hell haven't) dont be saying that. Yeah I've seen 5.3 so the boxster s is close, but certainly it shouldn't be labeled "faster" than an s2k
