Default S2000 vs. Drunk in a truck

Driving home last night we were in sight of our neighborhood when a large truck crossed the centerline. I was able to swerve to the right enough to avoid a head on collision, but the truck impacted in the middle of the driver's door and rode the side of my S2000 destroying the rear wheel and ripping off the rear bumper. The truck kept going, a hit and run. My wife and I were not injured, but my 2005 little red car with only 17k miles is no longer pristine. This is especially frustrating as I've only had her for two months.

Anyway, thought I should share this with the folks that would understand... Safe driving to you all, watch the roads this holiday weekend as the fools are out.

Time to get her fixed, meeting with the insurance adjuster early next week. Any advice on what to watch for when repairing a S2000 would be appreciated. I'm with Allstate and don't expect them to be an issue, but maybe not S2000 smart.

Thanks,
Frank

Here's the damage... The bump also was dragged across the pavement, haven't taken that pic yet.

You're supposed to put the spare tire in the front and move the front one to the back

That is correct. Hopefully, it was only used to pull the car up onto the flat bed. Driving it like that will destroy the differential.

Really, I had no idea. I've even read the whole user manual. I drove it about a quarter mile that way at maybe 15 mph. I had the rear bumper on top of the lowered top with the Highway Patrol following me home. I'll be sure to switch it before delivering it to the shop.

Thanks for the tip. I hope I never have the need to do that again.

OMG, I would have lost it and would still be in total shock if I was sideswiped and the other driver(a$$h0!e) left the scene.

Getting the car repaired is not the issue here, it's the devaluation of the car that would really make me mad. You can't replace original. Especially low mileage. Bet your insurance will not compensate you for the future losses of the car's value.

Sorry to hear that has happened, good luck.

That fact has been driving me crazy all day, but is water under the bridge at this point. Plus the car is worth even less in its current state. As correct as you are, all I can do is fix it, put the top down and hope it never happens again.

But, as my wife pointed out to my cry of "not this car"... If we were in a different car our girls would have been with us and who knows how it would have turned out. But I'm still pissed!
