Location: Chicago, IL 2:30 pm. (north on Cicero ave. toward Old Orchard). Cicero ave=2 lanes, speed limit 40mph.
Conditions: Sunny/50F/Moderate traffic(yes there were cars on the street)
Opponent: 94+ Mitchubitchi 3000GT VR-4 ( i think it's a 97, due to the round headlight).

I was cruzing on Friday afternoon(top down)(speed limit) when a white VR4 spotted me. He was the first car on the right lane and i was behind a 4x4 on the left lane. When he saw me he reved/and lightly smoke the tires. I revved back to let him know *It's ON*. He hit traffic so he swirled over and he's now right up on my pretty ass. We both did a little zigzag and we're clear of traffic. In front is a downhill curve to the left. I was thinking to myself, *HMM this is to my advantage*. I put it to the metal, and red-lighted 3rd into 4th. Sure enough I was right. When i look back, he's around 7 cars(yes 7) behind and swerving all over. I let off at the next light. But i doesn't end there.
This guy sure is a nut. He wants more. He was weaving in/out of traffic, cutting to the shoulder lane, and all those zigzag moves. He made a right turn a couple of lights down. I followed him. I'm not about to let him challenging my beloved S and do nothing about it. When we both turned, luckily the road was clear for an estimate of 1/2 mile. We both line up around 37mph. I'm in second and who care what gear he's in. We both floored, I'm staring to gain a couple of feet(2-3) on him. He shifted, and took it back and staring to gain on me. Red-light into third then in to 4th. We were both back and forth. Around 7krpm i shut it down, and he got around 3 feet on me. We both slowed down, roll down the window and gave each other a thumb up. He said *That's pretty fast for a 4banger, good race man.*Duh! i know it's fast =D. I made a u-turn and heading back to my destination.
His car definitely have a BOV, i can hear the psss sounds very clearly. When i accepted the challenge. I was expecting to be behind around 3-4 cars. I know for sure that if we were both start from standstill, he'll definitely have a good couple cars on me. But it's a BIG mistake to race with the S in a rolling start, Big mistake my man. Yes i was nervous, not about the speed but about the cop. 1 more ticket and bye bye license.
P.S. The S seem to shift smoother at red-light than at any other rpm. No living things were harm during the *brief* encounter.
For those in Chicago. The curve mentioned above is on Cicero Ave. passed the Dodge dealer on the right heading north.

He lightly smoked the tires? All 4 of them? In a VR4 that takes a high rpm clutch drop and will result in a rocketship launch. Unless of course he had some serious mods in which case he should have worked you over.

In stock form a VR4 is about as quick on the roll as a S2K, so its definitely driver dependent. Good kill.

You know.... all this talk about no street racing is bullshit..
I would bet my nuts..yes both of them that EVERY person that says no street racing would street race if they were not so anal retentive... Save it for the track??? yeah ok.. so I get to drive my car like it was intended 3 times a year...
in the past 3 weeks I have raced a boxter S several Trans Am's hundreds of shit cars... and the coo de grai... a black s2000 that rolled up on me on I 15 S. The driver was damn good looking.. she yelled "nice car... now come catch me... guess what... my ass doesnt pucker... 125 blasting thru traffic hunting down a woman....
and for those who are going to yell... remember..everyone dies... im not concerned with casualties that may happen, what the consciquences are or anything else you can throw out there as a feeble arguement.
To all those that like to play... dont stop...Do it more
and last thing... you can say whatever you wish.. but for me to hear you...you have to catch me...but to the pucker people..it will never happen...will it
Funny.. Greg Stevens and others mentioned Vegas as the S2Ki meet place next year.... hmmmmm... my town, my roads...maybe we will make a map.... Ill meet you there... cause I can do my errands, kill a vette, stop home kiss my wife and tease my dog....and....Watch an episode of Scooby, and still be the first car to the end.... why?

Where in the 10 commandments does it say... thou shall not drive over speed limit or thou shall not street race?
To the people who like to play, sorry this is so long..but Im on your side... to the others.... drive nice like... makes the paint look slicker

Just curious, how would you feel if one day, you got a call from the police to come down to the station to ID a body.

They think the body belongs to your wife/dog/mother/son/daughter who was killed because two nuts were street racing....

Would you still feel the same about your need and right to street race?

KaiWang,

Bit harsh don't you think? You couldn't make a point any other way? Some jerk could have been drunk and cause similiar injuries at the speed limit if he/she can't keep their car in the right lane!

Some street races are very short lived and don't get up to very high speeds, do you concider them the same level of danger?

Marco,

All I can say is wow. This thread is going to get nasty. I don't quite agree with you, but I do get tired of people telling me what I should and should not do. It gets tiring to hear the same things. People obviously are not listening, and I'm confident EVERYONE here involves themselves OCCASIONALLY in a little mano y mano with another car. It doesn't always involve people going to 130mph, it usually is a race to 60mph, a thumbs up, and back to normal driving.

So stop preaching to the choir, and drive the car the way YOU want to. I have two parents, I don't need any more. Thanks.
