1. Why do you think it wont start?
2. How much do you think it'd be to fix that?

ACV: $31200
is it just stating the value of the car or thats the price?
a couple moths back I saw a CR with 9k miles and was asking 29000 at a dealership.
So I don't know if thats a good deal especially with all that damages and salvage title. assuming 31200 is the price.

that would be the "Actual Cash Value" or the value of the car in excellent condition if it wasn't wrecked. It's an auction, so the prices usually start at $0 and go up in as little as $25 increments from my limited experience.

it would be a good deal if it was auction off with a extremely low price.
then fix it and stick a "for sale" on it.

Unless you are a dealer of sorts you can't go through the IAA without a broker.
Problem is, the more popular cars get more action and therefore go for higher than is ideal.

No idea why that car won't start.

well the auction always uses a higher actual value price because that tends to lead to higher bids. also there will be no such thing as "extremely low price' because the insurance will set a fixed price on that car. so until someone bids above that fixed price the car will not sell, even if the auction ends. sort like they have "reserve option" on ebay auctions.
i know all these because i buy and sell cars from IAAI

hmm if it wont start.... maybe the transmission got messed up with a blown clutch when the accident happened. or something along the starter
-then it would be a 3-4k fix for the tranny
-around 200 dollar for a new starter w/o labor.

but that door is going to be expensive....
-like 3k... doors arent cheap

or it would be a wireing harness..
maybe the impact had ripped some wires out and blown some fuses.
-a 1-2k fix

or a cheap cheap fix is that a belt popped off when the crash happened.

but there are too many things that could be the problem

You'll drop at least $10,000 into that to get it running again. Why else would it be totalled and be sold at an auction? If the cost to fix it exceeds 75% of what the car is valued at(when in good working order), it's a total loss. Of course, they do price out new parts, but you never know.

I can find doors for $800 all day long.

We don't know that it would take 10,000. It was totalled because they do spec new parts and the requisite labor.

Case in point...my fathers truck was in a wreck. The appraisal of damages? Over $3000. this was a relatively light front hit. He had it fixed for half that, using oem parts.
