Funny how you guys are actually talking about this. I remember reading about our beloved car in 98. I was shopping for a z3 online and stumbled upon a site with a prototype picture(love at 1st sight!). I 've owned my second since.

They spoke of shoehorning a 3.0(V6) into this chassis!!! Considering the size of the airbox, pretty feasible. The weight distribution becomes the issue. If I remember correctly...

...oh yeah,

the HP ratios were about the same...120/liter.

THAT means 360HP from 3 liters...

I thought a five cylinder engine was contemplated for the SSM.

Why stop there? Why not an S4400, heavy and pricier like a Z8?

Or an S5700, heavier and clumsy like a 'Vette?

Yes , the SSM did have a 2.5 litre V5 engine !
