Default S2k at 100k

Collage says it all: I just rolled over 100.000km on the Autobahn today! To my total surprise and shock, absolutely nothing happened at that point in time. No exploding engine, no detonating diff, no terminating tranny.

Sure it's not as high as some of the S2ks on this board, but this is a neat little milestone for me.

Long live the S2k! And a big for another quality Honda product! So far I've never been in for any repairs, and the only warranty work consisted of service recalls.

Cheers to Honda, and good night,

Maybe another four or five years you will able to get up to 200,000 miles without any problems

Well, 100,000km is about 62,000mi. So he has a LONG way to go to get to 200,000mi. That would be almost 323,000km!

I hope you were not the one taking the pictures at 151km/h (which is about 94 MPH) Gotta keep your eyes on the road!

Congrats! It's always nice to read another "Everything works great" post.

Out of curiosity, how do other German drivers perceive the S2000?

Cool milestone caught on camera.

What intrigues me, as an owner of an 04 S2000, is the gearing of your car.

EDIT...
For instance, assuming you are in 6th gear, I see that at 5000 rpm you are at 94 mph, increasing at a rate of about 19 mph per thousand rpm. If you could reach redline, you would be capable of a top road speed of about 165 mph.

I reasoned that with my gearing, the car is only capable of a maximum road speed of 152 mph in top gear, when the engine speed is 8,000 rpm (reasoning: 76 mph at 4000 rpm would equate to 152 mph at 8,000 rpm in 6th gear).

Based on what I see here, the motor-limiting top speed is much higher on the PRE-04 S2000's. Not that I plan to exceed that speed anytime soon, it's just an observation of the gearing differences.

Most Germans have no idea what an S2000 is. Since there were less than 4000 cars sold since 1999, with countless of them totalled or stolen, it's a rather rare car that you see maybe once a week. Getting mistaken for a Porsche is common...

Then again, it seems random passers by are more likely to scratch a sportscar than admire it ;( There is less of the, "wow, that is cool, if I work hard I can buy one too" mentality here.

Regarding my gearing, 120kmh is almost always 4000rpm. I currently have about 4mm left on my tyres, so there might be a 1-2% difference when compared to new ones or trashed ones.

The highest speed I have reached is 267kmh, which was right at 8500rpm. No more power!

Assuming your 6th gear is similar in overall gearing to mine, being able to rev 1000rpm less will definitely hurt your top speed.
