S2K or Boxster S?
Ok, here goes. I am interested in either a used low mileage Boxster S or a brand new S2K. I know what the consensus will be on here but what I want to know is what is the lowest price a new S2K can be had for (I know there is a search button button I couldnt find what I wanted)? Also, are there any dealers out there selling at invoice and are they anywhere near Cincinnati? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

It's pretty recent, and anyone who contributes to this thread, probably already did last week to the other one.
Although, to get even more helpful answers, you might want to specify which year Boxster you're looking at. My opinion is that the Boxster and S2000, while similar in theory, have quite different priorities. The Boxster holds luxury/prestige (badge)/amenities as a priority, as well as speed and handling. The S2000 has one main priority: Being the funnest thing to drive for $30k.
Drive them both, and pick whichever car fits YOUR priorities better.

PS-I know 'funnest' isn't a word, it's just that driving the S2000 is so fun, it makes you forget about proper grammar.

I'd consider the Boxster "S" if money isn't a huge concern. But remember, both insurance premiums and repair costs will be SIGNIFICANTLY higher. All for a car that will have performance that equals the S2000 but does not surpass it.
One thing to keep in mind, though, are the different handling characteristics of a mid-engined car vs. a front-engined car (a front-mid-engined car is probably more accurate). Generally, a mid-engined car is more forgiving at the limit....generally, that is, but not always.
Coming from 19 straight years of ownership of mid-engined MR2s (and of an X1/9 prior to that) to the S2k I've had to re-learn car control. It's amazing how nimble this Honda is. You can get lazy and sloppy with mid-engined cars at the limit; not so with this car. It forces you to be a good driver.
I never thought I would own a front-engined sports car. Heck, until the NSX and then the S2000 came out there was no reason to ever buy a Acura/Honda if handling were the most important factor in a car purchase. But with both cars, Honda has hit a home run each time.
Say, maybe you should look into getting a used NSX?
I almost did.

I was already headed down the Boxster S path (researched it for months, read comparos, etc.) and finally test drove one...I was underwhelmed. Then drove the S2000 - loved it. Smiled throughout the entire test drive. Could not then bring myself to pay $$ more for the name Porsche.

i've heard a lot of people call the boxster "the poor man's porsche"

To the OP: I think you should drive both and see which you like better. If it's still a deadlock, consider the price.
Personally, if I had the cash, I'd get a Boxster S in a heartbeat over an S2000.
