M3 or S2000...hmmm. Both are great cars, but hearing from people I know that owns or had own a m3, they said the car has a lot of electrical problems. Haven't heard of any engine problem, mostly electrical.

Such a hard decision. Just do some research and test drive both.

I've owned all 3 generations of M3....e30, e36 and then e46. They are great cars. Fast, practical, with reasonable reliability. Expensive maintenance. But the S2000 is much more fun to drive while retaining the handling of the M3.

I had an E46 M3. Sold it to get the S. The cars are apples and oranges. The M3 is a great GT car, the S is a great sports car.

If it will be your only available vehicle, the M3 would be more practical, you may want to haul more than one passenger sometimes and if you go on long trips, your SO may not appreciate the S for prolonged periods.

Even though this will be my only car, I will always think of it as my toy. I want to really enjoy the car and have the most fun possible, so it seems like the nimble s2k is looking very nice. Plus I really don't have the money to deal with BMW maintenance. And the S2k is newer, and cheaper for the lower mileage.

I had an e36 M3 and switched to the S2000.

If you need to carry stuff, haul >2 people, have a family, or have a fancy for good low-end torque, then the M3 is the car for you.

If you're single, like convertibles, a fan of JDM & VTEC, and have a fancy for a noisy engine, then the S2000 is the car for you.

I think it's an easy decision.

Choice A: well-maintained but overpriced german electronic-demon-ridden cowl-shaking mid-90's beast

Choice B: well-maintained and cheaper 2-seater roadster with reliability and speed to match Choice A, with just enough room for your woman of the day.

Get an S2000, man.

That style M3 looks so dated. Plus, you'll have problems with it. Who cares if you can say, "I drive a bimmer"? I drive an S2000 doesn't sound too shabby.

Nothing feels like the S2000 from the driver's seat. Sitting in an M3 feels like you're in a big coupe. It's tall, has a big back seat... it's not the sporty car that the S2K is.

no brainer.

I think that both are great cars, but the E36 is beggining to look a bit dated. I have always loved that car, but with the E46 M3 and the E90 due soon enough I would go with the S2K. Either way, good luck to you.
