S2K goes to 475 HP
Passing the magazine rack in the supermarket yesterday, a silver S2K jumped out at me from the front cover of the Import Tuner magazine. It had the obligatory blonde bimbo draped over the hood (watch that paintwork!:eek
, but what caught my eye was the mention of a heavy duty upgrade to the S2K engine. Reading the article (which had more photos), it appears that a company in San Diego have bored out the stock engine (this stuff was far too technical for me to understand), and are boosting the HP significantly. They still have some hi-tech tuning to do, but they expect the output to be in excess of 475 horses!!! I can't imagine what kind of performance figures they'll be getting, but it'll be interesting to keep up with their progress.
FYI: The mag issue I saw must have been the November release, which is not yet included in their "This Month" section of their web page (www.importtuner.com).
For the highly technically minded, this article may make interesting reading for you.

I certainly haven't heard of an 475 HP S2000 in this neck of the woods!
Guess I'll have to pick up that copy and find out who's doing it!
The guy that does the Monster Miatas (V8-powered) is here in San Diego, actually in Escondido, cthree's neck of the woods.

The guy did these custom mods as a hobby. Practice on the cheap car first, I guess.
