Thumbs up S2k iVTEC error in Sport Compact Car

I searched through the forums, but I couldn't find any mention of the 10/2006 Dave Coleman article error. I'm sure many of you have read it. Dave claims that the S2000 has iVTEC, so I want to make 100% sure that we don't. I'm 99.9% sure- but I want to be 100% positive before I go writing him a letter.

Besides, I'm the roommate that's mentioned by the question asker. And by the way... I just haven't been researching all that much about the cam timing / thicker head gasket issue, so don't give me hell about Khiem (Mr. Dinh in the article) saying that I didn't know.

Since when has the S2000 become i-ntelligent? No NO, give us the real thing, we have the real hard on/off VTEC without the software-intelligence

There was a post where this was discussed. It wasn't an important enough issue to stay alive in the forum.

iVtec would be pretty neat in the S2K, You could probably get better torque with it. Problem is the engine design's too old for it. The head would have to be re-designed with an actuator like the one the K20 has added. Figure the S2000 engine was developed somewhere around '95-98' for the 00 model year.

It's much closer to the Integra R engine than the newer K20 engines.

Nah, I'm not going to sue him over one letter. I just want to make sure that I'm 10000% sure of what I'm talking about before I write Dave, especially since I'm the one that's being talked about in the column.

I assumed that the article had already been talked about in the forum, but I couldn't find a damn thread. The search function is screwy- it needs to sort results by latest active or something.

And yes, it would be nice if we had iVTEC. I know it's not possible or feasible that Honda would think about adding it in as a refresher update, so I guess I'll just have to keep saving up for that turbo kit... and wait for Hondata to work on the F20C. Hopefully my tuner will have something running by the end of the year.

Thanks everyone!

take what you read in SCC with a grain of salt. this is just one example of their lack of any car knowledge.

Yeah, I know. I've seen instances of Coleman being wrong before.

Next to "Grass Roots Motorsports" it's still the best US car mag.
