I apologize if this has been posted before, but here's a link to a very detailed technical discussion about engine power and the physical princeples involved in propelling a car. It will either be fascinating or a cure for insomnia, but the S2000 is mentioned by name.

When I was at Stanford (99-00), one of the Mech Eng classes there revolved around designing "something cool" for an automobile. BMW donated a car (a 530i) and the students were let loose. Lots of interesting projects were done, but I thought that if I were to take that class (couldn't fit it in my schedule), there is no doubt that I would have designed an electrically driven turbocharger (Garrett is working on this currently) for the motor. Would have been amazing.
