My Fit has paddle shifters. I would not want paddle shifters in the S unless it's a verion of Audi's DSG.
(and trying to stay on topic)

The DSG tranny is sweet. The only downside is there is no ability to select a specific gear, without shifting up or down through all the gears (like 6 to 4).

Spend some time with a DSG and you might be converted.

OK, can someone please explain to me how duct taping one of these to our stickshift is going to make my S perform any better? .........................

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

Wait until you are caught in a flood or accidentally spin out on a bridge.

If I'm not mistaken the SMG III in the E60 M5 has the fastest shifting at 50 milliseconds, compared to the almighty Bugatti Veyron which is only 150 milliseconds. SMG would be sick in the S2000.

The 2008 S2000 is going to be an amphibious vehicle! That's why it need a pair of paddles next to the spare tire. Here is a picture of the prototype: www.watercar.com

Extending the shift knob by 4 feet will lenthen the throw a little, but it also means no waiting on the syncros. You can litterally pry it into 2nd.

I see. That's how come the next gen S2000 will come with the optional "rumble seat". The guy in the back's gonna have to reach forward and finish the shift.
