Is the S2k still hand built?
not not hand built in a sense of ferrari and NSX

hand built and hand made r 2 different things imo.
im guessing that...
aston martins n stuff are hand made because the interior and most of the body panels are put on my hand
and im guessing that
s2k is hand built because theyre not assembled by machines. builders are only assisted with heavier parts by machines

Regarding the motor, the ports are hand touched up with a grinder. However, if you look at motors from number 1 to now, the amount of effort expended in the touch up is less.
The S2K was originally produced in the NSX factory, but I don't believe that is the case any longer.

I can't find the thread of course anymore, but from what I remember reading the S2000's engine is not hand assembled.
According to the thread, which was from a group of s2ki members that visited the The engine wasn't even made in the Takanezawa factory, it arrives in the factory assembled.
The car itself however is hand assembled in that it isn't built on an assembly line. The car is put together on a sort of dolly that holds the frame and is then carted from one workstation to another.
In addition, employees who worked at the Takanezawa factory (and later on the special assembly line at the Suzuka factory) were considered Honda's best, and it was an honor to work on that particular assembly line.
Because of this, QC should be better than most, and without getting into cultural differences too much, the Japanese in general take pride in their work much more than most cultures. Just goto a McDonalds in Tokyo and see how serious the employees take their work.
