The S2K as a surrogate child
Hi. I think the reason some of us love our S2000s so much is that our cars have become like surrogate children to us and we invest the same care and concern in them as we would in our own flesh and blood children.
For example, notice the "I just got my new S2000" threads. We all respond with congratulations and advice. This is akin to passing cigars around when a man announces that he has a new baby boy or a little girl.
On the wax and wash forum, we all take care to use only the best washes, wax and leather products. This is because when we give our children a bubble bath, we want to use only the gentlest and most nourishing soaps with them.
When we park our cars in the parking lots we often park them in the furthest sections, as safely as possible, away from other cars. This is because we can't bring our cars inside with us, in a stroller, as if they were children. But if there were some way to bring our cars inside with us so we could keep a safe eye on them, we surely would.
Many say that their cars are "their baby." I think this is more true than we realize.

I've actually said the words "I don't need kids. I have my S."
And I'm guilty of trying to buy the best gas, best polishes, leather care, parking in Alaska to shop in New York, parking the car inside, and even making sure the garage is clean and heated.
But if my car is any indication, if I ever have kids, the first thing I'm going to do is find the forum about them and start reading up on proper care, feeding, and available mods

I spend the cost to buy it from the dealer and consumables
That's it.
I take care at a mall or movie theater due to careless doltz driving boats and punks stealing/vandalizing. Mostly, I just don't take the car to places with high concentrations of human detritus.

In addition to the list you have, I feed mine only the most nutritious gasoline (as documented on the TopTierGas list).
