Default S2K Wear 'n' Tear over 3 years - need input

I'm interested in hearing from early model year S2k owners about wear and tear. What kind of wear and tear you have noticed as the car got older. What about the leather? Other parts? Thx!

I'm still loving my 2000 model (#3710). I've done 4 driver's education events at Texas World Speedway, 2 events at Texas Motorsports Ranch, and 4 Auto-X, all in bone-stock, "having a fun day" form. I'm not a serious racer. My S is my dry day daily driver, but I use my Ford pick-up truck in the rain or other foul weather [this saved the S once due to a rear-ender that showed the value of a 9000# rated bumper].

Anyway, other than tires and oil, I have noticed NO excess wear or tear on the car. It was put together very well. The leather is holding up well and only got marred when a Jiffy-Lube boner put his greasy hand on the seat when getting in . Cleaned up to where I'm the only one who notices with saddle soap and water.

I have one scuff where my daughter's bicycle rammed the rear on its own (ghosts!). I am pretty religious about waxing prior to Auto-X's to avoid cone marks, and I usually use a bra during high-speed track events (although I think I give up 5 mph on the front straight).

Summary: No problems.

Al

I've got one of the OG models .. '00 #1580 baby! The seats have developed some creases, but they are holding up just fine. Everything under the hood is A-OK. I've had no other problems ... besides one of the front parking light bulbs going out, but that was a cheap fix.

Mine's one of the lowest vin number (#82) for the model year 2000. I drive my car mostly just on the weekends and it is garaged when it's not driven. With the exception of a few driver's seat creases, it's holding up well. It has just under 30k so far. Loving every minute and mile of it.

The only wear and tear that I've noticed so far is a bubble in my dash and some bubbles in my headlights. I'll get both of those fixed before the warranty runs out.

I have had my S2000 since 11/23/1999. It now has over 21,000 miles with no problems whatsoever. The car is still totally stock with original tires, and even the top cover and seat belt retractors were never replaced/repaired.

Well I'll chime in with some (perhaps) more significant things. I got my car the first day they came out (9/99) and it's been my daily driver since. "Excluding unusual items", as they say (e.g. accident damage), my car's experienced:
- the headlamp housing bubbles
- dash dimples
- creasing leather seats (but then I'm 200+lbs)
- all manner of creaks, squeaks, and rattles, mostly due to the insanely poor roads near my home.
- lots of paint chips and a big windshield chip

Notably, I DON'T have any issues with the plastic rear window, which is mildly scratched ("swirled", really) but still perfectly clear. This is due to two factors: I garage the car (at home and work) and have used Plexus and 303 on the window regularly.

Mechanically, the car's been an absolute champ. I have 16K miles, including about 1000 track miles.

6 months old for mine ~15,000 miles.

So far I have replaced 1 tranny due to car dropping out of 4th. Fixed under war.
Rear window is shot, does not matter I never drive with the top up. I have a sunburned face right now with pink skin where my sunglasses are. and a huge smile.

Car has been great other then that one problem and the attention. I work in Mira Mesa street racing capital of san diego, I get reved at every day. Those are my simple problems and I drive rather hard.

I've had my car since Feb. 2000. It's not my dailiy driver and only drive it on nice weekend days. Replaced one rear tire because of a flat. No other issues and no other wear and tear items. Plexsus keeps the back window crystal clear and Lexol keeps the seats soft and new. Like ewcollins, I have not done the seat belt recall and the seat belts are working fine.
