Default S2K's in colder climates, problem with condensation in headlights?

I'm running into a problem with condensation in my headlights. The first housing to have this problem was the passenger side, got that replaced under warranty. Now, the driver side is starting to show some condensation. I'm starting to wonder if this is just something that these headlight housings do when it's cold out?

I live in western Washington, so the temps aren't extreme, but it does get down to around freezing at nights during this time of year. Like right now, it's 45 deg. Tonight it will be 32 deg.

Is anyone else noticing this with their headlight housings?

Not here in Rochester, NY. The last time I had problems with this was on my '90 Integra when it was new...

No problems with condensation in mine, but I am having problems with tiny white specks on the outside of the "glass".

Turns out they are all very small chips.

I used one tube of black silicon sealant for each headlight, let it dry for 24 horus and no problems with condensation at all.

I'm starting to suspect that the previous owner (bought the car used with 2600 miles) may have done a clear diffuser mod at one point in time. Or maybe he/she just took the amber lens out (because I don't think the clear diffusers were even available when I got my S2000. I'll try resealing the housing and inspect them for any obvious signs that they were opened at one point in time.

The problem is with the seals on the light bulbs. They dry out when cold. This is why Honda greased them. I could tell you have to clear them up your self. But to keep it from ahppening again, you will need to regrease the seals.

As the lights heat up from very cold, the projectors draw the water out of the air trapped in the headlights. This wicks on them like a cold beer on a warm day. If the seals on the bulbs is not tight, as the headlights cool, air is drawn into the housing. As this process repeats over time, the water gets trapped.

I hope that helps explain it.

Uncle Fester check out this thread....
http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...ht=condensation

As you will read in there mine weren't modified and they had the condensation problem which then led to bubbles in the case lining. Ive sold my S2000 now so not my problem but if it was under warranty I'd have had them replaced.

Good luck
