Default S2k's Paint

I know this has been discussed before. But there were so many conflicting answers last time that I still don't know what the answer is.

Is the New Formula Red on the S2K a clear coat paint of not?

I've waxed it once and the one time that I did, I noticed some red on the cloth I was using. So my guess is that it isn't clearcoated. But I thought all new cars come with clearcoat paint now?

Anyone?

I was told that red did have a clear coat on the paint from the Honda rep. I waxed my car 4 times, no red spots on the rag. I was worried about the red coming off when waxing when I purchased mine.

redleader,

What kind of wax are you using??? I've waxed my car twice so far and no red paint coming off. I use Blitz and it comes in a can.

I used McGuires. However, I plan on getting zaino and as I understand it, they sell to different type of waxes/polishes. One is for clear coats and the other is for non-clearcoats.

My question would be... are all colours metallic paints? If not which one is?

I'm also curious about whether or not the red has a clearcoat on it. I have accidently opened my door on more than one ocassion into my garage wall, leaving a red mark on the wall. I wouldn't think this possible with clearcoat.

ALL S2000s HAVE CLEAR COATS Regardless of color. Its typical that a polish would pulls some color up.

What is a good wax to use on the Silverstone ones? I haven't waxed my car yet, but the Honda dealer washed it for me even though I drove it off the showroom floor...i plan to wax it this weekend...any suggestions?

If it is clearcoat, it is very thin and weak. On all the cars with clearcoat that I have owned (Fords), you could see the clearcoat on top of the paint. No polish or wax would ever show any sign of paint residue. Small chips, abrasions, and scratches would not touch the paint below it. It just does not look clearcoated to me. Would not trade my S2000 for any car under $60,000 but, it looks like the paint job may need replacing long before the sparkplugs.
