Disconnecting the battery will lead to the OEM deck (assuming you still have it in the car) to need the code to come back on. Just a warning.

to the Battery Tender.

is it parked in a garage? If not, why not pick up a solar trickle charger?

Currently, I drive my S2000 at most 4 times a month. I find that I need to jump-start my car now because the battery keeps getting drained by being parked for extended periods.

My brother-in-law suggested I purchase and use a battery disconnect like the one at this link.

I emailed the vendor to see if it will fit our car and safe to use. He advised that I ask the dealer to see if it was OK to use as late model cars sometime require power for the CPU.

So is it safe to use? I'm planning on purchasing a new battery and using this device hoping to prevent the battery from draining completely while it's not being driven.

Thanks!
If your battery is getting drained with that frequency of driving, I think you may want to consider either getting a new battery, or making sure there isn't a short circuit of some sort in your car (are you leaving cabin lights on? trunk lights?).

I don't drive my car very frequently either ~once a week, and have never had problems starting the car.

(Also, I do not drive my car at all in the winter months, but I have a trickle charger for that).

Yes, the car is parked in the garage when at home. Therefore, solar charger may not be an ideal option.

I own an 01' and this is the original battery. If I recall correctly, my battery died/drained on me at least 4 times now due to it just sitting in the garage for extended periods.

If I'm lucky, I would get to drive it once a week, but's it's really more like twice a month or at times once a month or even less. I think lately when the battery has died it's because I haven't driven it in a month or so.

I think this battery has run it's course as opposed to a short circuit somewhere in the car. I'm planning on getting the battery replaced and getting the Battery Tender Plus.

I'm planning on the Battery Tender to be used solely for the S2000. What's the better buy: JR or Plus? I think it's about a $15 price difference.

Also, just want to confirm, but I would want the version with 12 Volts of output voltage correct because there is a 6 Volts version as well.

Thanks for all the inputs everyone.
The Jr. should be fine for one car- get a 12V model. Just hook it up after each time you drive the car. It goes into trickle mode when the battery is full.
