Default Salvage title question

I bought a great condition 2004 silverstone s2000 from
Houston, TX with a salvage title and drove the car back to Missisippi. I took the title to the title place and they told me I would have to go back to the dealer and they would have to apply for a rebuilt title then it can be transferred over to me then I can register the car. It seems like so much of a headache. Is there anything else I can do other than the scenario the registration place told me. Thanks

Well, you could CALL the dealer to start.

Yeah, don't buy an S with a rebuilt or salvage title. lol. I went through straight hell with one recently, it's not worth it and I'll never do it again. Sold that f@#ker and bought another mint clean title...

First thing first you need to contact the dealer and find out why they let you leave with the car not rebuilt. Your not even allowed to leave with the car unless it is rebuilt unless it's towed out off the lot. I buy and sell crashes cars so I'm wondering why a dealer sent you off like that. Either they didn't know or didn't care. You need to make an appt at the dmv and get the car inspected where than you will get a rebuilt title. You will need pictures of the damage that caused the title to become salvage and than receipts of what was repaired. It is a very easy process and If you like the car and got a good price it would make sense to keep it. I'm on my 3rd s2000 with the first 2 being clean titled. Salvage or rebuilt isn't always a bad thing if corrected properly. I can guarantee my s2000 is cleaner than 90% of the clean titled ones on the road and you wouldn't even know. If you have any questions pm me and I can help you. Also check out the dmv site for your state to read up on any questions you might have. Good luck hope you get it all taken care of.

Depends on the reason for rebuilt title. A severely wrecked example cannot be repaired properly. I guarantee I can find the damage on any S that's been repaired from death, as I know every gap and weld on the car, especially after going over my other S and comparing it to the one I bought recently with the R-title. Never again. The car WILL NOT drive correctly if it's been totaled. If you think it drives normal after, drive an untouched example back to back with it and you'll see.

If you want a track car you might find a salvage car at auction from theft w/o body (frame) damage. If the motor is not shot you can get a deal for that.

Really depends on the car to be honest. Every car has it's own "story", some good some bad. If you're not about risk then I would stay clear of anything not clean & clear.
