Default saw a 03 and a 04 in a dealership

I'm using edmunds's dealer trade in and private party prices as a starting point. I take the midpoint between the private party sales and dealer trade in to figure my price i want to pay. Is that good enough? Beats me how much a 03 with 16k miles is worth. No more than 24k for it?

The 04 with about the same amount of miles....$26k seems a bit much when a brand new 05 can be had for around 29.5. The 05 will have a higher resale value and has more bugs worked out.

I can wait a few more months when its cooler and the 06 models come out for better pricing, plus each model year would be a year older. Insurance would be a few hundred cheaper too. Now I know everyone here thinks the car is worth more than a few hundred here and there and dont believe in saving much when its comes to the car, but I like to keep my spending in check and the more I save the more I could put on other things for the car.

Thx.

Are you sure of the differences in the 04/05 models vs. the 03? IMO the 04/05 AP2 lost it's appeal... I wanted the S2000 because of it's great looks and 9k redline, which the AP2 lost out in both places (IMO the wheels and rear end of the 04/05 are just ugly). Personally I'd look for an 02/03 model. You are right about the 24,000 mark. You can definately find a nice 02/03 with decent miles in the 24-25 range. What I'd do is look in autotrader.com and look for what's available in your area from a private seller. That's how I found mine and I got an incredible deal.

I love them both, but the new additions make the AP2 worth loosing a meesly 800rpm's. I mean who could hate the new front and rear lights, exhaust, front and rear lips, bigger rims and tires; c'mon - it's a no brainer IMHO

I'd definitely look on autotrader.com for deals in your area and get what YOU want; whether it's an 02-03 or 04-05...you'll be happy with either. Also, as for the price; I don't think 26k for an 04 w/ 16k miles is that bad; I paid 26k for MY04 with 14k miles on it about 3 months ago. You could probably do a little better though

Cool beans. Thanks. I like them both. If I had one I'd love it over the other I guess. I like the look of the AP2 but like the engine of the AP1 like a lot of ppl here.

my MY00 they wanted $22k for it. Has 43k on the odometer. Talked them down to $18k and get a new top thrown in.
