Someone where I work bought a new white 350Z.

I took a walk around the 350z.... my impressions:

Nice lines, but the white color was less than impressive...rather boring (owners fault, not the 350z for picking white).

The dash gauges were TINNNNYYYYYYYY. 3 itty-bitty gauges.

It was an automatic (again, the owners fault /sigh)

Over all, I did think it attractive looking except for 2 major things:

1) The DOOR HANDLES. OH MY GOD. What were the engineers thinking? HUGE metal handles protrude out! They are verticle (as opposed to normal horizonal handles), in a flat-metal color with rivits (I think). About 2.5" wide, and I'd have to guess 6" high.

2) The plastics on the head lights look like a bad over-done boob job. I'd say they were easily double F's. These babys were HUGE (Pamala Anderson would have been jealous). I can imagine them picking up a lot of nicks from the road, and they also took away from the lines of the car IMHO.

One thing I did notice-- they have rear speakers, and I don't just mean rear speakers... I mean they have what looks like 5" speakers behind your head, and (although I could only see behind the drivers seat), what looks like at least 1 8" sub (maybe another behind the passanger). I'm assuming its stock, since the car doesn't have plates yet. Anyway, it looks like you could put a serious stereo system in it without much over-customization.

All in All? I'll keep my S2K, thank-you.

Bitch all you want, thats my opinion,

Wow where did you watch one wreck? You mean you saw it get into an accident or the aftermath?

We passed a couple on the FC run. One was a light blue I think and the other silver. I liked the pics better.

Wow that sucks, sounds like a lame driver. Oh and I think it's funny that some Honda owners think the 305Z is lame looking concidering that EVERY single Porsche owner I have seen has either stared at the car, stopped me to talk about it or given me thumbs up. Anyway I understand that looks are subjective, and some aren't for everyone (I personally can't stand the Boxter, inside or out, talk about tacky interior.)

Saw my first one the other day driving in the opposite direction. Words that came to mind at the time were: "dumpy, pudgy, obese, Pacer-like, fat, pregnant Audi TT, grapefruit".

Heh heh. Don't hold back, XViper - tell us what you REALLY think!

It will be a while until we get the 350Z in the UK, although I've not been hugely impressed by the photos I've seen so far. I'd have to say that if I was in the market for that kind of coupe, I'd be far more tempted by the RX8 next year.

Actually, the really funny thing is that you somehow think that is a compliment. All-in-all, most porsche owners are not car enthusiasts, nor do they truly appreciate engineering prowess. The majority of porsche owners care about one thing when buying a car, 'does this car make me look 20 again?'

The thing I dislike most about the 350Z is that they're making so many of them.

If in the lower numbers like the S2000, then it'd be much more attractive as the car is solidly built and designed well enough to be distinctive, sporty, and classy.

Mind you, in stock form with no spoilers of any sort, the S2000 isn't any better looking than the 350Z. But once you add an OEM spoiler here and there and upgrade the rims to a bigger size, you've got one sweet looking ride.
