Scratched Console
Has anyone else experienced scratches on the silver plastic around the shift knob?
I often wear a watch with a metal band and I happen to wear my watches on my right hand. I noticed that when I am at rest, my watch has rubbed some small scratches on the plastic ring that is part of the console around the shifter. It is a cheap piece of plastic and painted to look like the aluminum shift knob. Wish it was made of aluminum like the knob. Any comments or suggestions to fix the scratches? Maybe a way to make a new ring out of metal or something?
Thanks.

Yes. This is my only really persistent problem with the car. (Not a bad one, if you have to pick one.)
Honda makes a titanium stick-on version of the same piece that would hide the scratched plastic one, but it'll run you almost 200 bucks!! The other option is to accept your fate and work the rest of the dark coating off. (How? I have no idea, but it's been done.)
For the record, I don't wear a watch or jewelry on my right hand. It just got scratched during normal wear&tear.

Great if you can get it repaired for free. I did spend about $180 for two titanium pieces. One piece covered a break in the plastic trim ring that I put there. The other piece attaches over the cup holder lid. I couldn't really ask the dealer to warranty the trim piece since I put the break there installing Rick's leather shift lever boot.
This thread shows pictures of the pieces I got and how to order them:

Best luck to you.

The titanium piece looks great! I'm sure it is very durable too. Wish they had used that as a standard piece. Oh well.
I guess I'll wait until the plastic one is really scratched and then maybe get the titanium one. Or maybe I'll see if the dealer will provide a new one.
By the way, the hardtop ships with a new console, doesn't it? I am really wanting a hardtop. And if it comes with a console, even better.
Thanks for the info, guys.
