seat belt problem
I have a problem with my 2001 s2k.
I was carrying a box in the passenger seat. I had the seat belt pulled around it to keep it in place. When I took the box out the seat got stuck on the seat position lever (the one under the seat). It is wrapped around it once. At the same time, the belt is locked, like when you are braking, and it will not release.
1) I don't know why the belt is locked. Even with the belt slightly pulled out it should release tension when there is no pressure on it and the car is not moving.
2) I can't remove the seat because I can't get to the rear bolts.
3) I can't remove the roll-bar trim because I can't get the seat out of the way.
4) I have looked at the tensioner through the spare tire hole and it doesn't seem like much can be done.
I guess I will take it to Honda as warranty work. I don't feel like I did anything unusal to cause this. Regardless of the belt being looped around the seat lever it should release when the car isn't moving and the power is off.
any other ideas?

The seat belt is reacting as if you were in an accident. It has locked so the "passenger" cannot go forward any further. If you can try to get as much slack as possible so you can even feed a 1/2" or so of the belt back into the rectractor, it should let go. It's like a rachet on a cargo strap that's under tension. You have to try to release some of the tension for it to get past that notch it's locked on.
