Seibon Cooling Plate

Default Seibon Cooling Plate

Does anyone have this carbon fiber SC style cooling plate? Just wondering about the fit-finish. I'm hoping it will serve in place of a snorkel. I like the concept of further sealing this area and forcing more fresh air through the radiator and with this unit also up and over into the intake.

I have the AUT cooling plate and it's exactly the same as this one. I love it.
Fits good and looks good.

looks and fits good, but how about performance? notice ANYTHINg different? that is what i'm really intersted in

I have the AUT plate too and so does most of the board b/c the good deal in the group buy.

The whole thing is woven out of CF so yes, the bottom is CF too.

You may need to dremel it out a bit as no two pieces are the same.

your not really going to see any noticeable performance from this.
If you mate it with a K&N FIPK or some other open filter intake that the funnel will shoot air onto then yes you might see some gains.

I too have the AUT plate. I think it is wonderful! I got it from a group buy here on the forums, the only complaint I had was it took 14 days to get to me

As far as performance: I added a small ram air scoop to the grill like another member here did and I cut out the air dam in the air box and added a K&N filter. At speeds above 50MPH it helps alot with throttle response and I also monitored a temp drop in the intake using a snap-on scan tool. My temp drop average was about 18 degrees F.

The fit was perfect! I did not have to modify a thing. Just remember to take the metal support rod out of the front rubber seal!

Save yourself some money and go with the AUT from here!

My answer to that "since I started this thread" is that I wouldn't expect any noticeable performance gains. I'm just looking to get some fresh air up to the intake.
I prefer not to remove the factory air filter box and replace it with an aftermarket
CAI. Not because they don't work but because the filter box seperates the engine bay from the radiator. The engineers have gone to some lengths to make sure that these two cavities are seperated and that the heated radiator air is directed downward under the car before it reaches the engine compartment. Evidently there is a valid reason for this and I prefer to leave it as is.
However, it is just as evident that when stopped the air intake will be pulling heated air from within this front bay. I think the snorkel is a fix for this but I don't like the squeezed and restricted bend that it makes over the radiator. I'm hoping that one of these cooling plates will also allow fresh air from in front of the radiator. Besides, the cooling plate also helps seal this front area to direct more air through the radiator.

I am looking at this, but I am worried about hood clearance and will this fit without modification with the stock airbox? Do i need an aftermarket hood or will this scratch under the hood when driving?

All you neeed to do is adjust your hood latch possibly to raise the hood slightly to prevent it from rubbing. You can run this with an OEM hood.
