seized caliper
so i take my car to honda for a grinding noise and my rear caliper is seized and my brake pad is cracked and it desrtroyed my rotor. so i need new pads and rotors and he says i need to replace both the rear calipers so they are the same strength. im out like 1500 and it sucks and felt like posting here
Well, that sucks because your mechanic bent you over.
This is why a $20 membership on s2k is useful.
1. There are tons of used calipers for sale. I bought a full spare set for $100 USD.
2. Replacing pads and rotors takes maybe 1-2 hours with basic hand tools.
I would have just replaced one caliper with a used one for $50 and maybe replaced both rear rotors and pads. ~1 hour of time in your garage and <$200 in parts. Even less if you bought some used OEM pads. I picked up a half worn full set for $50.

You really got hosed. for $1.5K you're well on your way to a used set of BBKs.
shit, sucks for me. i dont have a garage to work in or even a floor jack. i wish i could do it myself cause they are probably charging me bunch for labour. they want to charge 300 for a valve adjustment, is that a ok price? i have a knocking and they said its too loud to tell if its from valves or tct.

You might also want to make friends with any local area S2000 owners. I've been helped by and have helped several people in my local s2k community. I imagine it's saved me quite a bit of money - especially when I didn't have a garage (although that's not the reason I'm active in my local community). If you were local, I'd help you switch out your pads and rotors for a case a beer (and not a $1500 case
)Rule 1) Local owners are usually friendly.
Rule 2) Mechanics are usually jerks.
Rule 3) Rule 1 overrides rule 2.
