Selling the car...

I would sell the Lexus instead of the S2000. But that's just me.

But it really depends on how much you like the S2000, and how much the girl likes the Lexus. I have a Tacoma as my DD, and I'd got crazy if I didn't have the S2000 to drive when I wanted.

thanks for the advice - definitely good advice. Ironically, it might be a 4Runner that is the trade, which I see you own. Any advice on whether a 55K mile 2000 4Runner will last 6-7 years if taken care of? They have one on the lot (2000 Limited, Certified) that they're asking 18.5K for. I'm thinking about getting it down to 16K. It's either that or an Xterra, which I'm unsure about how long they last.
I think it will last you a while, and will definitely come in handy when you have the house. When we bought our house, we had an '88 Prelude Si, '96 Integra GS-R, then later a '95 Miata. We needed something to carry other people with us, help out with those trips to Home Depot, and rack the bikes ('02 Gary Fisher Tiburon, '04 Specialized Allez Sport) so the 4Runner was the perfect choice. Sporty (Got the little known Highlander - before there was a Highlander, now known as Sport Edition), decent power, and easy on gas despite my 70 mile round drip daily commute.
So - just make sure you run the VIN somewhere. There's a TSB for the fuel guage being inaccurate. Be prepared to fork over some $ to change the T-Belt, hopefully that's been done already. My rear brakes were done at my 60K. The tires that I bought with the 4Runner are still on there - some 30K miles later.
I don't know much about the XTerra, I'm also unsure how long they last but the 4Runner will definitely give you more space.

I don't know how you can go from an S2000 to a 4Runner as a DD. Won't the lower gas mileage cancel out any savings from the lower sale price? I figure I'd get an old tacoma if I really needed to haul a bunch of mulch and crap.
Assuming he's going for a 3.4L V6.
I think that's what he's getting, I think they dropped the 4-cyl after '99.
Yeah I traded the car. I got 24.7K for the S2000 which I thought I did pretty well. I got a 2000 4Rnner Limited, loaded, certified to 100K miles. It has 45K miles on it now. I paid 17.5K for the truck. I feel I did pretty well, all things considered. I'm aware that the mileage won't be as good. I'm guessing I'll get 16mpg instead of the 21mpg I was used to seeing, but I'm still saving money. Not to mention I can put cheap 87 octane gas in this which will help just a little bit.
Anyways, yeah it's almost done. I'm dropping her off tonight. Sad, but it's the right thing to do. For all the naysayers talk on the SC430, we would've lost a lot of money on that - more than on the S2000. Between the two, it was the car to trade. I'll have my day in the sun again! I foresee a used Porsche in my future - 3 years or so. I'll be back down low on the asphalt

thanks for the update. i think you did okay.
you'll be back with an S2K or something eventually - wait a year or two when hopefully your equity on the house goes up quite a bit!
congrats fellow 4Runner!
