Selling a car out of state?

I sold out of state and buyer didnt even look at car. he gave me 10% deposit and took a flight to pick up the car and issued me a bank check which I cashed right away. not a cheap transaction too, $26k

10% deposit is huge. When I got my car, I gave the dealer under 2% ($100 or $200, I don't remember) as a deposit.

I needed 10% because I had a few serious buyers and I needed to put down a non-refundable deposit towards another car, i couldn't afford to loose a buyer for $100-200 bucks, and buyer turned out to be very interested in my car. it was actually more like 8% not 10%

Absolutely this. I bought my S out of state, I flew to the seller with the cashiers check made. I wasn't afraid to go home empty handed, either. But short story: buyer needs to jump through the hoops.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with that. I bought from a local dealer so I only needed to give them something to show that I was interested.
