Default Selling my S2000

Unfortunately the time has come to sell my S2000. I bought it in December 2000 as a 2001 model, Spa Yellow with alarm. I need the money to buy a house soon and my stock market funds are in the toilet as of now Thanks Martha. Anyway I'm looking for opinions on how to go about selling it.

Take it to the dealer? Try Car Cash or Car Max (any others)? Sell it in the classifieds?

I'm a little hesitant to sell it on my own because of the hassles and time involved. If it was a $10000 car big deal....but do you think it will be easy to sell the car around $27500 with only 6000 miles. No engine mods, but I got Lucid's rear speakers, Rick's console cover, Mingster's? rear wind deflector, Muzmat's window protector and an one peice solid X-Brace (the expensive one...not Spoon's).

It's truly a breautiful car and my heart breaks just thinking about selling it so I need to do this fairly rapidly. Any suggestions? Thanks all I'm gonna miss this site

You can try going by a couple of dealers & used sports-car specialists & just see what they'll offer- check out used car prices on edmunds & kbb.com first & see what you can expect. Everyone says selling it yourself or on ebay can garner more $, but you're right, that can be a hassle. Good luck!

Car max will give you about $22,000 for it. Honda will give you about $23,000. A private buyer will give you around $26,000. If your car is paid for, I'd say take it to Honda, but unmod it first. You may be able to squeeze out $24,000 from them. But if you have a smaller margin of profit becasue you have not paid of the car, then I say wait and sell it to a private seller.

If you owe more than say $10,000, then sell it to a private seller, anyless, sell it to Honda, the time is not worth the extra couple of thousand.

Are those cash deal numbers? I've never traded a car for cash. The closest I've ever come was to trade down from a $16K car with a $10K buyout for a new $6K car, even. (in 1991, needed to lower my 'lifestyle' to go back to grad school). I'm under the impression the dealers are loathe to buy cars for cash.

Has anybody ever gotten trade-in, or even wholesale, value IN CASH for their car from a dealer? How close have you gotten?
