Arrow Serious Lack Of Acceleration After 115-120 Mph

Hey folks, I picked up my new baby at the end of last month and wanted to test the top speed, don't worry I was on an airfield not on the road! It was mind blowing up to 115 mph but after that there was a hugely noticeable drop in power. It started to climb really slowly after that... I know honda usually put a speed limiter on their cars in Japan, is it the case that any UK cars would have the same limiter on them?? Can it be removed? (not that I would be in a hurry to as I won't be travelling at that speed often, if ever! But I feel a bit out done if my S doesn't do exactly what it says on the tin....?)

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance folks.

J

Me again, just had another quick browse through the forums for an answer and I can find references to limiters on imports but mine is definitely a UK car....? The mystery continues.

with the top down, the car is drag limited to around 120-125 mph.. If you had the top up and windows closed but still couldn't get past 115, put some more miles on the engine. My car was significantly faster with ~9k on the odo compared to when it was brand new.

Was the car still in VTEC after 115 mph or lower rpm?

Yeah, he should just be shifting into 5th gear around that speed if he wants to stay in the peak power band. If he was planning on doing a 6th gear run from say 60-150, then he's probably not going to have enough power. I'm not sure if he'll be above 6K RPMs at 115 in 6th gear.
And like the other guys said, if he's got the top down, the aero drag is going to be significant at those speeds.

I can't drive faster than 222kmh (137mph) top down. It can't even redline 5th.

Top up I reached 267kmh (166mph). Acceleration is a bit sluggish right around 200, but picks up a little near 220. Forget about conversation after 240

Car has 96800km on it, 2000 model, side and rear OEM spoilers.

I wouldn't be able to say. After 120 the car does need more room to get up in speed. I have many runs to 135 (two on video) and have had no dissapointments.

I don't think I ever maxed out the upper gears with the top up, it has always been down. The first time I tried to max out 5th gear, I had about 2,000 on my S. I got up to 135 mph in 5th gear at 8,700 rpm. I held it at 8,700 for about 4-5 seconds and it would not rev any higher. I shifted into 6th and I maintained 135 for about 4-5 seconds until I dropped 1 mph off my top speed. At that point, my car had been maxed out so I shut her down.

I did the same thing twice more over the next 2,000 miles with the same results. I did it again at 4,500 miles. This time I was able to easily reach 9k rpm at 139 mph (red bars flashing) in 5th gear. Still, there is not enough power to climb from 139 mph in 6th. Every time I have done this, the top was down.

I would like to do some engine mod's, but handling takes priority at this point
