Default Seriously! Watch The Oil on Your New S2000!

Hey Guys,
Now I know this is nothing new.. It's been repeated several times... I got lazy and let about 1000 miles go by w/o checking the oil. I've had the car for 2 1/2 months.. It's a my 02 with 2450 miles. Last check was at approx. 1500 miles and levels were perfectly normal. No oil required.
Last night I decided to check it as soon as I got out of work. OMG!!! There was a quarter of an inch MAX in there!!! I couldn't believe it!!
What's the deal!? God forbid you don't surf this forum?
I'm pretty surprised that Honda doesn't have the first oil change at 2000 miles with the way this car burns through it! I coulda blown my motor.. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often...
Crazy!!

Btw.. I love my Digrappa X Brace.. It was tough getting it, but well worth the wait.
Thanks Mark, Jim and Rick!

Mine is an '02 with 4,000 miles. The first oil change is Tuesday and I will be driving my other car and truck this weekend to make sure the mileage does not get higher. I ran it very conservatively for the first 750 some miles and then I just let it sing. Now My Spa lives above 6kRPMs as much of the time as I can get away with it. To date I have added about 3/4's of a quart and it is at the top of the X's on the dipstick now. It consumed about 1/2 quart at 1,200 miles and then it consumed the remaining 1/4 quart over the last 2,800 miles.

You should use 10W-30 since you are in CA. And yes, a good conventional oil will be fine.

10W-30 would be the way to go to top it off, just use a good quality brand.

i'm partial to 10w-30 castrol and i've used about 7/8 of a qt in 3400miles, with a hard break in to 600 and then workin my way up to red line until 1000, actually pretty lite oil usage considering all the revs i use.

My '02 has about 4200km (3000 miles) used about a litre of oil to date. I check the oil every fill up (actually before I start it, when I know I am going for a fill up ).

Like Triple H said...Brat likes to stay above 6000 RPM for some reason .
