Default Service Dented My Car

I notcied that after getting my oil changed the other week, that on the fenders above the front wheels, are slight dents... You can't see it unless you get down by the head lights and look up at it..

Anyone else have this problem, and how do I prove they did it..

Also on service, they changed my rim, because they dropped it when fixing 1-2 grind, and scratched it.. When they put the new one on there was scratches all around the top part where the wheel meets the metal.

I told them that it was probably the machine that did it. Honda Dealers answer, "They all have that, and is probably a defect"

What BS.. Needless to say they are repolaceing both my rims...

BTW, they also said it is casting, and that two other S's had the same problem...

Any one else??

watch them put the wheels on - look at them BEFORE they put them on. it is VERY EASY for an inexperienced person to scratch a wheel like this, I know exactly what you are talking about.

when the tire is mounted, its a tight fit, and when they mount them, they are thinking, well - either I'll tear the bead of the tire or scratch the rim if I continue, oops! rim is scratched, solved that issue.

remember, since this is a dealership, I'm sure they do not get too many of our tight fitting tires in there.

The fenders are very easy to dent in this car. They are pretty weak and can be easily dented by just leaning too hard on them. The serviceguys probably leaned over on the fender when putting oil in the car. The paintless dent removal places do a really good job at getting these out. There was another member on the board that had the same damage and the dealer fixed it, no questions asked. I guess it depends how good your dealer is.

The fenders of more than a few cars on this board have gotten dents this way. Give em hell until they fix it!

This happened to me recently, and luckily the dealership I went to had a great service department and fixed it without a hassle. In fact, my dents were exactly where yours were, and you had to look at them from the same angle in order to see them. Looks perfect again.

My Honda dealer advised me to have the local Firestone/Bridgestone store mount my tires. The dealer said they don't have as sophisticated machines as the Firestone/Bridgestone dealer for taking care of fancy wheels.

My Firestone/Bridgestone dealer said "No problem, but Craig is the only man in our shop who will do it. No one else has the experience." Craig unmounted my SO2 tires from the stock rims and mounted Blizzaks on them. A couple months later, Craig mounted my SO2 tires on the JDM 16" BBS six spoke forged rims I bought from Giampiero in the group buy. Again no scratches.

Tell them that you can understand them scratching a rim because it is difficult and you'll be patient about them buying you replacements.

Ask them why they have to lie about it and tell you, "They're all that way..." as if you don't have 2,000 S2000 owner friends on line to ask about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you end up getting that wind leak to go away? As you remember, I had the same leak as you but I didn't pursue it since the last time you and I discussed it in March?

Why are the dealers like this?

I told them I have people I talk to and know this crap..

They also told me that my steering wheel was supposed to move a 1/4 of an inch.. So I told the guy that I spoke to many people and they all said it was not normal.. Then I said go and screw the bolts to spec. Sure enough when he did this the shake was gone..

At least now they kinda know that I am not BS'ing and I know more than the average Joe..

When my steering wheel had that 1/4 inch of play, I showed it to Ken, the service writer at Valley Motor Honda, and he said right away, "That's our fault. We can fix it while you wait. There's a couple bolts that just have to be torqued to spec."

Too bad you're not closer to Sheridan, Wyoming.

The truth is that I never would have bought an S2000 if Valley Motor Honda hadn't already convinced me they have the best service department of any auto dealer within 100 miles. They do.
