Default Severe hail damage value?

Recently my car was pummeled by a hail storm. from 10ft away it almost looks perfect, but up close it looks like a golf ball. the damage is too far gone for me to pay outta pocket and too much for my insurance to cover. so i gotta bite the bullet.. after 12 years of driving s2000's, it's time for something else.

anyone ever bought or sold hail damaged ones? i just have no idea what values are for them. with some auctions, the cars are missing the entire front end and still fetching $7k+. mine runs n drives flawlessly and looks sharp, but up close it's toast. insurance is saying it's totaled, but letting me keep a clean title.. so even more so i have no idea what values are for a totaled but clean titled s2000. BringATrailer is seeming like the best option so i can just let the price go for whatever people are willing to pay for it.

This is how it sits right now. yeah that's totaled. can't even see the dents

Just looking for any info or insight.. kind of lost here. anything is appreciated though - thanks!

If you find a good PDR person in your area they may be able to restore it completely. Depends on the damage obviously but someone can look at it and let you know. Might be worth looking into it, paying some $ to get it fixed and then sell.

insurance didn't cover the PDR quote? that's where I would start. I'd get it PDR'd.

it's totaled with how much PDR work is required, so they aren't going to pay it. minimum $12k is what i was estimated, but with the value being right around 18-20k, it's just too close for insurance to do it

Buy clean hood/front fenders/trunk and PDR the rest? Would be cheaper I'd think.

I agree with this. Should be able to get all these panels for under $2k total used off donor cars if you're willing to hold out a bit. For reference, brand new from Majestic Honda (unpainted, minus shipping) is:
$373 for hood
$450 for trunk
$474 for each fender.

If your doors are totally trashed, they're $620/ea brand new. Getting pricey when you add doors, but it's still miles away from that $12k quote.

i definitely looked into it but the rear quarters are so far gone that they have to be cut out and welded back in. the PDR people wouldn't even offer to take on the job cause they're so peppered. could slap a bunch of body filler on there.. but no one wants that :P

Sounds like it could make a great track car. Golf ball dimples might even lower wind resistance!

I think OP is set on selling

You're gonna make out like a bandit after insurance and selling the car to someone that wants it

Quit beating around the bush, OP - what selling price is in your mind?

Put a complex wrap with lots going on and keep on driving! No one will ever be able to see the dimples.
