Park next to a car as nice as or more expensive than yours
Avoid parking next to coupes. Sedans have shorter doors.
I wouldnt take 2 spots cause that might piss off someone to key your car or worse

For scratches, I never use the keys to open any door. Always use the electronic opener.
I keep my car anally clean, polished and waxed. That way small particles will simply fly off the exterior paint.
I never park next to an SUV, a truck or a van. If I have to, I'll park next to a very expensive car even if it not located on an end cap.
I usually keep my top up when parked for any length of time. That way, people can not peer into the interior and accidently brush their pants zipper or whatever against the paint.
Stay as far away from gravel trucks as possible.

Ride the left lane. The S2K is practically invisible either behind or right-side of a massive SUV. At least on the left side, you're pretty apparent if the driver checks their side mirrors.

I park where I have the most room from other cars and put my car cover on if I'll be very long. I won't ever park over a line though.
My only concern is if I need to make a quick stop at a grocery store or food place and have to squeeze into a tight spot. Sometimes I'll just park further away and sometimes I just have to be quick before either car I'm parked next to leaves.
I've had my car 2.5 years with no door dings at all on it.
