Shift from 3-4.5k once your car is warmed up. You'll like it a lot better, and so will your car.

Just shift around 3-4k, I have the same problem I like to take my time between each shift and even when shifting at 3.5k traffic gets pissed and attempts to pass, usually I let it go but if they catch me on a bad day I won't upshift at 3.5 k >

3.5-4k is where it likes to be shifted at for daily duties, then again 9k isnt that bad either

The honda manual says to make the 1-2 shift at roughly 15 mph for best fuel consumption, I believe that is higher than 2.5k.

I always just wait for it to bounce off the rev-limiter a couple of times.

Why care what traffic thinks? Its like an angry bmw cock getting all aggressive and constantly lane changing to get to the red light faster. I drive intelligently and know traffic flow behavior for the places I constantly drive to drive the most efficiently time wise and leave the bmws constantly lane changing in my dust once they get trapped behind cars.
I don't make an effort to go around people unless they are going at or under the speed limit. Cops won't usually pull you over here for doing 7 over especially if traffic is flowing that fast.

I think that is right around 3k. Not 100% though

really?! man i just keep it in one gear. why shift? around town theres no need redline gets me to 37ish. nothing like the sound of an engine dying.

no really, 2-2.5 is pretty slow for me personally. i like it more like 2.7-3ish for me if i am just driving around town with the top down. i mean if you're not in a hurry i really dont care. i also have gears to pick up my last of torque. and i dont do the honda recommend shifts because 15 mph is about 4k. ehh but that should fine. but i usually shift like that when the engine is all warmed up.

this is gona lead to the discussion whether it's really "shortshifting" the car if you shift at 2-2.5k or it's best to shift as early as possible for best mpg...

i think it depends...i do it from anywhere between 2.5 to 3.5
