Default Shift Boot on MY05

I heard there was a way to make the boot snug around the shifter... How can I do this? It keeps falling down around the shifter and it's really pissing me off. Thanks.

Man, you're easily pissed off! Glad it's nothing major.

I bought a voodoo knob from RICK and I cannot seem to feel the wire tie that is supposed to be there. On my old '03, I could feel the wire tie through the shift boot, but there doesn't seem to be one there now on my 2005. Any one else have this problem? I really don't want to remove the console for fear of breaking something - I can totally see that happenning to me with my luck.

Console removal is actually very simple, and the clips aren't as fragile as you may think. Do it, do it, it will be okay. (Don't forget to remove the shift knob first).

Get yourself a small zip-tie and cinch that thing down from the inside/bottom.

Piece of pie,

you dont need to remove the console....

unscrew the shift knob and remove.
place some rubber "o" rings on the shift lever and underneath the boot itself.
play with the number - i think i have a stack of 8-10
replace shift knob

The effect is that is doesnt allow the boot to keep dropping down - gives the effect of looking countersunk whilst actually raising the boot.

CHEAP MOD!

1. remove shift knob

2. pull up (I would say yank but some people yank harder then others) on the plastic by getting your fingers between the little tray around the shifter and the leather next to it
