Default Shift Knob removal??

This may sound stupid, but I'm having difficulty trying to remove my 02' S2000 Shift Knob. Is there some kind of Nut or special way to remove the 02' shift knob??

There is a 14mm nut on the bottom on the knob. You want turn it clockwise to loosen it from the knob.

Is the 14mm nut underneath the bottom metal part of the shift knob or does that metal part have to loosen up before i can get to the 14mm nut, because i don't see any 14mm right under the shift knob??

It looks like it is not there. In that case it just unscrews. But if the nut is missing, then someone removed and reinstalled the knob. Did you get the car used or new?

I bet you just need to apply some pressure, got any "BIG" friends?

Mine is stuck. I have the stock knob with locking nut, and I can't loosen it to save my life.
I am not turning it in the wrong direction - thought of that.

Even the grease monkey at the oil change place couldn't loosen it.

Help!

If the nut is gone, a little pressure should get the knob off. If not maybe go to a Honda dealership and I'm sure they'll pop it off for you in a sec.

I wasn't sure of this either. I didn't know the nut had to be loosened, I just twisted it. Hm...

Are you a second owner? If so, the previous owner may have lost that nut and decided to use Loctite on the threads. If the "high strength" Loctite was used, good luck trying to get it off. You would have to put a lot of heat on it to get the Loctite to let go. More heat than the knob will take. Have you tried using a rubber glove or one of those rubber strap things for taking jar lids off? That might give you enough "grab" to get it off.
