Does anyone know the approximate length of a S2000 shift lever. I ask because I want a voodoo knob really badly for my 'teg. However, Voodoo Bob does not make them specifically for tegs. He does say that the S2000 would fit, just there would be a gap between the boot and the knob. I am trying to determine how big that gap would be. Thanks for any help you guy can give me.

Also, this forum really rocks. You guys really got it together! Maybe I should get a S2000 to better participate.

No, it's not because your not one of us, but because since we don't have your car we can't do the calculation. The boot on the S2000 fits snugly up to the bottom of the shift knob, so any knob that has too large an offset below the threads would rub against the top of the boot. But how can we know what would happen on the 'teg?

Probably because it is not an easy question to answer. The shifter extends up from the transmission covered by a boot. It is 5 to 8 inches depending upon how you estimate it. It is a hassle to get an accurate measurement and it probably will not relate well to the shifter in your car.

Red, how about we try to get your gap from the other direction.

Start with the stick with no knob on it. Assuming the Voodoo knob will screw down the same amount on your car, measure down 1.85" from top of stick. That's where the knob ends. Gap on dude!

Few details to help you determine if the knob will screw on same or less than S2000:

Stick(S2000) -
1" of threads

Knob (VooDoo) -
2.25" total height
1.90" deep hole
1.00" deep c'bore
1.85" bottom tap (only 0.85" of threads though)

So, 0.85" thread engagement (0.15" unused threads on stick).
For us, the top of the stick bottoms out the threads in the knob (we don't run out of threads on the stick).

Hope that helps, tell VooDoo Bob he ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks RT for taking the trouble to help redtide out. I assume you have the Voodoo know to have come up with all those measurements

Yay! Thanks again everyone for your help, epecially RT. I measured yesterday 1.875" from the top of the threads, and there will be about the same amount of gap between the boot and the knob as there is now. So things should work out. I think. *fingers crossed* Also, what does everyone think about cutting the threads a bit. I was thinking .25"s off of 1" worth of threads would not be too bad. Any ideas out there.
S2kfatty: Thanks for leading me here. BTW I live in Shrewsbury, MA so we are practically neighbors.
