Angry Shifter question

This is a stupid question but I've been driving the car for a while now but not realizing that the shifter was not propped all the way up when I drove. Does that damage the transmission.? The shifter has to be depressed to get into reverse but I don't recall putting it back to the up position during normal driving conditions.

Yeah, it doesn't stay down when you push it down for reverse. As soon as you get to neutral it has already come back up.
