Default Shifter vibration while coasting. Is that normal.

Got a 2006 s2k yesterday. Shifter vibrates while coasting but not when accelerating. The car body is not vibrating. Didn't notice this during the test drive. Also there is a distinct jerk when Istart the car in neutral.

Wanted to know if this is normal?

The shifter will definitely vibrate a bit. Replacing the OEM knob with a voodoo knob from Ricks definitely helped a bit, but its still there if you hold the knob and feel for it. Don't try to hold it still, supposedly this is bad for it (the gearbox I believe?).

As for the starting in neutral, not really sure. Doesn't ring a bell but I could just not understand what your describing. Relax, you got a lot of warranty left! Congrats on the new car!

Thanks. That means its normal.

What i meant was when starting the car in neutral I hold the shifter in my hand and I feel distinct jerk. Please note that my previous car 00 si did not behave this way.

The Si don't have a shifter directly sit in the transmission like the S does.

the slight vibrate is normal, if you getting some bad vibration, the plastic holder might be cracked.(the other end of the shifter)

someone on Honda-tech(one of the FR MOD guy) removed his/her shifter and found out the plastic holder/cap was broken into pieces.

The best way to check is to take it out, you want to regrease it once a while anyway

yup thats the reason the shifter will vibrate. I never notice unless I'm looking at it.. I think its kind of funny looking

Rick's has worked to exhaustion to fix the ringing problem with the SSer.. not sure if its been completely eliminated, but I imagine it has

I actually like the feeling of the vibration ... it makes me feel connected with the car

You should check out those Best Motoring videos -- the shifter looks even scarier in those videos (they look like the shifter was about to pop out)!!!!
