Shiftin Without Clutch?

I could do it on a ranger truck POS we had once, but the gears in a S are way too close together to do it properly. I found that the only gears I can do it in is 3rd to 4th. Other than than the r's drop out of range too fast.

What's helpful in getting the shifter out of the gear you're in is your throttle inputs. Just a split-second after you let off the gas, the load on the tranny is such that pulling the car out of gear is very light, and then you must time it right getting into the next gear.

It's quite hard on the car to just yank the shifter out of gear, so you really have to time it. When you let off the gas and the car weight shifts forward is the best time to yank the shifter out.

Benefits? Well, I suppose you don't wear out your clutch, but it can be good practice for when you drive a car with a broken pedal spring or something.

Just don't do this too often, use the clutch for what it's there for!

umm ok let's say your clutch spring on your car disconnects, i'm sure it won't be a pretty picture when you try and clutchless shift into 1st to start moving ****pictures student driver violenty jerking back and forth when not giving enough gas****
