Default Shifting

Yep, shifting!

Not a question about where the gears are or shift points but I need some insight/advice on engine rpm when shifting. The 2000s engine seems to have no flywheel at all. The second I lift off the accelerator and depress the clutch the engine seems to drop to idle and the shift makes me look and feel like a guy who can't drive. Is there a sweet spot on the gas pedal when shifting during normal driving or to I just have to keep experimenting?

Probably just need to practice shifting a little faster, minimizing the time that the clutch is engaged.

I fixed your signature BTW.

Agreed. Don't hold the clutch in so long that the engine drops to idle. If you do, blip the throttle to get the revs up and then release the clutch.

Here's an idea... find another S2000 owner local to you, preferably someone who has had theirs a while, better yet someone with proper track experience, and take a ride with them. Watch and learn how they clutch/upshift/downshift/throttle. That's how I learned all about rev matching.

Doesn't really even need to be an S2000 owner to learn all that, but it's always a plus

I normally let go of the clutch quickly and then slowly at the end of the clutch point. Second gear is a little (as always) harder to master though.

And it's smooth.

Could be that you're lifting the accelerator before the clutch is fully disengaged - you'll get a slight engine braking effect and RPMs will drop. Just drive it more to get familiar with the clutch/throttle timing.
