Default shifting to neutral without pushing clutch

it doesn't seem to hurt the car, but it doesn't feel right either. is it bad or ok?

at a certain rpm range, there's a point where you can freely tug it to neutral.

i've driven many manuel vehicles without touching the clutch (simply by guiding the stick up each gears)........except first gear of course.

I'm pretty sure there isn't any harm in pulling to neutral as long as it is done quickly. However shifting INTO a gear without the clutch requires more skill/planning and will kill your syncros.

Seems like you'd want to do this only when the drivetrain is not under load -- that is, when it's not accelerating or decelerating. And you have to do it carefully, so that you don't overshoot neutral and head into whatever other gear gate is on the other side of neutral at that point.

But I think I agree with the previous comment -- just use the clutch. HPH

Its okay to pop it out of gear without using the clutch, but yes, don't do it when the transmission is loaded and its def harder to do on the S than other manual cars I've driven (really have to push it out) - I'm guessing the gearbox isn't designed to let the shifter out of gear without the clutch being disengaged.

I rarely use the clutch in day to day driving.

My trans NEVER grinds, you just need to have a feel for it.

Be careful though, I tried to teach a friend how to drive clutchless and he just couldnt get it down, he ended up screwing up his tranny.

what's the point? No performance benefit and likely damage to your transmission. I wish I knew how to drive clutchless!
